As Kober window is called the showcase of brothels in which prostitutes are offering. Kobern describes the visible waiting of a prostitute who is on the lookout for suitors .

There are such windows, for example, on De Wallen in the old town of Amsterdam , in Baekelandplein in Eindhoven , in Herbertstrasse in Hamburg , in Ludwigstrasse in Hanover , in Bruchstrasse in Braunschweig , in Vulkanstrasse in Duisburg , in Flaßhofstrasse in Oberhausen , in Linienstraße in Dortmund , in Stahlstraße in Essen , in Antoniusstraße in Aachen , in Lessingstraße in Bremerhaven , behind the embankment in Düsseldorf , on the Frauentormauer in Nuremberg and in Helenenstraße in Bremen .

Red lights indicate female prostitutes, while blue lights indicate transsexuals . The prostitutes usually sit in lingerie on a stool by the window and speak to or are addressed by the suitors on the street. The price is negotiated at the window. If the price of the desired sexual service is agreed, the suitors are allowed into the house.
