The FK Wedrytsch-97 Retschyza ( Belarusian ФК Ведрыч-97 Рэчыца , Russian ФК Ведрич-97 Речица / FK Wedritsch-97 Retschiza) is a football club from the Belarusian city of Retschyza . He currently plays in the Perschaja Liha , the second highest division in Belarus .

history

The association was founded in 1952 as Dnjaprovets Rechyza. In 1962 he changed his name to Dnjapro Retschyza, 1977 to Naftawik Retschyza and 1980 to Sputnik Retschyza.

After Belarus became independent, he was a founding member of the top division of the country, the Wyschejschaja Liha, as Wedrytsch Retschyza . He belonged to the league as the only promoted player after he had previously played in the second highest regional division of Belarus within the Soviet Union . In the founding season 1992 of the highest league Wedrytsch reached his best result with the 8th place. In the following seasons, the team did not get beyond 12th place and finally had to relegate in 1996 as 16th.

After relegation, the club was re-established in 1997 as FK Wedrytsch-97 Retschyza. After three years in the second-rate Pershaya Liha succeeded in second place in the promotion to the top division, where the team could only last two years. Since the 2002 season Wedrytsch-97 Retschyza has been playing second class without interruption.

In the Belarusian Cup , the team reached the final in 1993, which they lost 2-1 to Nyoman Hrodna . 2001 Wedrytsch-97 was once again in the semi-finals of the cup, where they were eliminated against the eventual cup winner Belschyna Babrujsk after two draws (0-0 at home and 1-1 away) due to the away goals rule .
