Young Sunday

Weekly Young Sunday ( Japanese 週刊 ヤ ン グ サ ン デ ー shūkan young sunday ) is a Japanese manga magazine that is aimed at young men ( his own ).

The magazine is published weekly by Shogakukan- Verlag. The main part of the magazine is made up of chapters from various manga series or short stories. These are often sports, comedy, or romance stories. However, brutal, serious manga like Ichi the Killer also appear in Young Sunday .

In 1976 the first issue of the magazine appeared, still under the name Mangakun . Shinji Mizushima , the draftsman of Dokaben and Abusan , published his 19 paperback manga series Kyuudou-kun for the first time . 1979 Mangakun got a new name - Shōnen Big Comic . Popular series such as Kaoru Shintani's Area 88 appeared under this name until 1987 . Since 1987 the magazine has been published under the name Young Sunday . In 2005 the magazine had a circulation of 230,000 copies per issue. This circulation was well below that of the similarly designed magazines Young Magazine and Young Jump , which finally led to the discontinuation of the magazine in 2008. The last issue was published on July 31, 2008.

Well-known artists such as Rumiko Takahashi or Mitsuru Adachi have already worked for Young Sunday .
