White Tower (Bergen-Enkheim)
The White Tower is the remainder of a medieval fortification in the Bergen district of Frankfurt 's Bergen-Enkheim district . The late Gothic fortified tower was completed in 1472. It was part of the Bergens fortification, which was built in 1440 and belonged to the domain of the County of Hanau-Münzenberg . The Berger fortification comprised two gate towers, three towers and five roundels . The Hanauer Count wanted your territory from the neighboring with the mounting Bergen free city of Frankfurt and its Landwehr secure as Frankfurt and Hanau fought over claims to power. In the 19th century, the Berger fortifications were torn down, and the White Tower only narrowly escaped demolition.
