Weidach is a residential area in the large district town of Leinfelden-Echterdingen in the Esslingen district .

The place

The once independent hamlet now forms the village of Stetten auf den Fildern through the structural merger with the two towns of Hof and Stetten .

history

Weidach was already a place to live in the time of the Celts . In 1810 the three hamlets of Stetten, Hof and Weidach were given the independence under the name "Stetten auf den Fildern". In contrast to Stetten and Hof, which belonged to the Protestant parish of Bernhausen in the 19th century, Weidach was part of the Protestant parish of Echterdingen. The structure was rural until after the Second World War . It was only after 1945 that the three hamlets got sucked into the industrial city of Stuttgart , so that Weidach became a commuter village.

Only since that time has the townscape changed significantly. The former rural hamlet has become a popular place to live. In 1975 the community of Stetten lost its independence and was incorporated into Leinfelden-Echterdingen.

particularities

Until 1938, Weidach had a half-timbered pilgrimage chapel with a small bell tower.
