construction

The willow dome stands at the western end of the village north of the Spreewaldresort in the past, "Landgasthof Zum green Strand der Spree" . The design was carried out by the Swiss architect Marcel Kalberer . The structure, created in 2004, is 22 meters wide and 11 meters high. 200 cubic meters of willow poles and 840 meters of steel pipe as well as 3000 meters of rope and 150 kilograms of coconut rope for fastening were used. Construction began on March 8, 2004, and the inauguration took place on May 1 of the same year. During the construction, bundles of willow were planted, shaped and connected to one another according to the building drawing. Since the completion, the willows have continued to grow and change the building continuously. The project was funded by the Leader plus community initiative.

In the willow dome there is a stage that is used for events.

The architect created similar objects elsewhere. Also in the Spreewald is the Weidenburg - Arena Salix near Burg .
