Wine fractionation

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Weinfraktionierung is a method of fractional distillation , with the wine in a spinning cone is broken down into its components. On the one hand, the dismantling serves the purpose of reassembling the aroma components later in order to obtain wines that always taste the same. On the other hand, it can remove components that adversely affect the taste of the wine. A wine trade agreement with the USA has allowed such wines to be imported into the EU since January 1, 2006 without this process being shown on the label.
