The Weinviertler Sparkasse AG was a Lower Austrian banking company based in Hollabrunn and part of the savings bank group in Austria . It was created in 1824 as a club savings bank. The savings bank was a member of the cooperation and liability association of the Austrian savings banks and the Austrian savings bank association .

From 2009, the Weinviertler Sparkasse was a 99.49 percent subsidiary of Erste Bank Oesterreich. On March 30, 2011, Erste Bank announced that Weinviertler Sparkasse and Erste Bank der oesterreichischen Sparkassen AG will merge into one institute on September 9, 2011, which happened in the same year.

Founding history

At the end of September 1822, the district chief of Korneuburg, Czech, called for the establishment of savings banks. This took place in the form of a circular with a booklet printed in 1820 with the title "Eretzt Spar-Cassen!" After visiting the Hollabrunner pharmacist Ignaz Babo at the First Austrian savings bank in Vienna, he succeeded, together with Father Strauss and Franz Gassner until March 1824 an existing 21-member club to set up and the initial capital in the amount of 665  fl raise. The approval for the foundation was given by decree of the Korneuburg district office at the beginning of May 1824. The founding meeting took place at the end of May in the Oberhollabrunn rectory. The statutes adopted at this meeting were presented to the district office. The association now comprised 41 members who wanted to raise a total of 2,000 fl. At the end of July the statutes and the establishment of the Korneuburg district office were approved. At the end of January 1825 the savings bank was opened.

Structural development of the main institute

The savings bank premises were first in the old town hall (Sparkassegasse), then in the private premises of the pharmacist Ignaz Babo (today's pharmacy on the main square). In 1843 the current building of the savings bank was acquired. In 1870/1871 the house at Sparkassegasse 1 was built with the large conference room and apartments for the executive staff, while the savings bank building was converted at the same time with the establishment of a smaller meeting room above the entrance to the savings bank. 1924 major renovations and redesign of the cashier's room. In 1960, 1963, 1975 and 1988 further additions, alterations and redesigns of the company premises took place. In 1995 the Sparkasse was generously redesigned, including the historical parts as museum holdings, and in 2000/2001 the customer area and internal departments were redesigned with the creation of conference and training rooms.
