Weizmann referee

Weizmann referee ( Hebrew ויצמן שירי, Born February 5, 1956 in Beersheba , Israel ) is a former Israeli politician . It was named after Chaim Weizmann .

Life

Shiri's parents immigrated from Iraq to Israel in a so-called aliyah , where he was finally born in 1956. He served in the Chermesh unit of the Israel Defense Forces . Schiri was also the managing director of a juice factory that had a turnover of 5 million. Since June 2009 he has lived with his wife Riki and their three children in Azorei Chen in the north of Tel Aviv .

Politician

Referee began to be politically active in 1984 and joined the Labor Party, the Avoda . At first he was only politically active at the local level, but was run as a candidate for the Knesset elections in 1996 , where he has not yet won a seat. Referee was elected to the Knesset for the first time as a member of the Avoda in 1999. From August 12 to November 2, 2002, he was Deputy Minister of Defense in the 15th legislative period and in the 29th government cabinet . In April 2009 he was elected General Secretary of Avoda.
