The Ministry of Defense ( Hebrew מִשְׂרַד הַבִּטָּחוֹן Misrad ha-Biṭṭachōn , German 'Office of Security' ) in Israel is located in HaKirya , Tel Aviv .

The ministry is supposed to protect the state from internal and external threats. The ministry includes the Israeli security forces , the Israel Defense Forces (ZaHa "L), the Israel Military Industries (IMI) and the Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI).

The Ministry also maintains the tradition of the various ZaHa "L units and endeavors to present and convey the history of the Jewish armed forces in Palestine and Israeli military history. The Ministry also maintains various museums and memorials such as the underground prisoners' museum in Akko (founded in 1963) and in Jerusalem (founded in 1991).
