The Ministry of Construction and Housing ( Hebrew משרד הבינוי והשיכוןMisrad HaBinui VeHaShikhun ; English Ministry of Housing and Construction ) is a ministry in the Israeli cabinet. After the elections on August 15, 1961 for the Fifth Knesset , the ministry was re-established in the coalition negotiations for the new government under David Ben-Gurion as Prime Minister . Georg Josephthal from the Mifleget Poalei Erez Yisrael party became the first minister on November 2, 1961 . After his death, Yosef Almogi took over the ministerial office on October 30, 1962. In the meantime, David Ben-Gurion was acting minister.

Until the government under Menachem Begin it was referred to as the Ministry of Housing ( English Ministry of Housing ) and renamed under Gideon Patt in Ministry of Building and Housing ( English Minister of Housing and Construction ) on June 20, 1977. Under the government led by Shimon Peres as prime minister, a deputy minister for construction and housing was appointed for the first time on October 10, 1983, Moshe Katzav ( Likud ). After Eli Ben-Menachem ( Avoda ) left the Ariel Sharon government on November 23, 2005, the post of Deputy Minister was not replaced.

From March 18, 2013 to May 14, 2015, Uri Ariel of the HaBajit haJehudi party was a minister in the Netanyahu government. Joaw Galant of the Kulanu party in the Netanyahu government has been a minister since May 14, 2015 .
