Cabinet of Levi Eschkol II
The cabinet of Levi Eshkol II ( Hebrew מֶמְשֶׁלֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל הַשְׁתֵּיִם עֶשְׂרֵה Memshelet Yisra'el HaShteim esre ) is the second Israeli coalition government with Levi Eschkol as prime minister and the twelfth government since the establishment of the State of Israel. The new government is the third coalition government in the fifth term of the Knesset . It was formed on December 22, 1964 and lasted until the end of the legislature.
As was the case with the First Coalition Government of Levi Eschkol, Mifleget Poalei Erez Yisrael , National Religious Party , Achdut haAwoda , Poalei Agudat Jisra'el and the two parties representing the Arabs of Israelis , Shituf weAchwa and Kidma wePituach . The composition of the government has not changed much since the last government. Only the position of Minister of Tourism was created, the first minister of which was Akiwa Gowrin , who was a minister without portfolio in the previous government .
Yosef Almogi and Shimon Peres resigned from their ministerial posts on May 25, 1965 due to their opposition. Both switched to the Rafi party, newly founded by David Ben-Gurion , in July .
After the parliamentary elections on November 1, 1965 for the Sixth Knesset , the government remained in office until the new government took over on January 12, 1966.
