Cabinet David Ben-Gurion VII
The David Ben-Gurion VII cabinet ( Hebrew מֶמְשֶׁלֶת יִשְׂרָאֵל הַתְּשִׁיעִית, Memschelet Yisrael Ha-T'schi'it ) was the seventh government of Israel under Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion . The government was formed on December 17, 1959 , following the general elections held on November 3, 1959. The coalition government was supported by the Knesset factions Mifleget Poalei Erez Yisrael , National Religious Party , Achdut haAwoda , Mapam and the parties representing the Arab Israelis : Hakla'ut Ve-Pituah , Shituf Ve-Ahva and Kidma Ve-Awoda .
Until May 10, 1960, the Ministry of Education was led by Zalman Aran . The office took over on August 3, 1960 Abba Eban , who had become minister without portfolio when the government was formed. After the death of Ja'akov Moshe Toledano as Minister of Religion , the office was not filled until the next government . The Post Ministry was after the death of Benjamin Mintz also occupied first with forming the new government.
The government collapsed after the resignation of David Ben-Gurion on January 31, 1961 in the wake of the Lawon affair . At the end of February, David Ben-Gurion informed the President that he would not be able to form a new government. Thus, it came to the dissolution of the Knesset to new elections .
