Following the election, the parties Mapai, Mafdal, Achdut haAwoda, Mapam and the three Abrabian-Israeli parties Hakla'ut Ufituah, Shituf Ve'Ahvah and Kidma Ufituah formed a government. David Ben-Gurion became Israeli Prime Minister for the seventh time.
