Ministry of Home Front Defense (Israel)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Israeli Ministry of Home Front Defense was a ministry established in Israel in 2011 .

history

The Ministry was established for Matan Vilnai by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on January 19, 2011. From 2007 to 2011, Matan Vilnai was already responsible for home front coordination in his capacity as Deputy Minister of Defense under Ehud Barak .

Netanyahu explained the reasons for creating the new ministry:

"Today, I would also like to appoint our friend Matan Vilnai as Home Front Defense Minister. I would also like to make it clear that we are talking bout [sic] establishing a separate ministry - a unique experiment - that will deal with the defense of the home front. This is the case in several other countries, the US for example, even though none of these countries have been hit by 12,000 missiles like we have and there are no such threats hanging over them. They have separate ministries for home front defense, how much more so should Israel, which needs a minister to deal with the issue in a separate and focused manner. "

- Today I want to appoint our friend Matan Vilnai as Home Front Minister. I want to make it clear that we are talking about creating a single ministry - a unique experiment - that is solely responsible for home front defense. This already exists in other countries, such as the USA, although none of these countries were attacked by 12,000 missiles - like us - and there are no such threats to them. These have special ministries for the defense of the home front, the more they need them Israel has a minister who deals specifically and specifically with this problem.
