Gilad Erdan
Gilad Menashe Erdan ( Hebrew גלעד מנשה אֶרְדָן, Born September 30, 1970 in Ashkelon ) is an Israeli politician ( Likud ).
Life
During his military service in the Israel Defense Forces , he achieved the rank of captain . He then studied law at Bar Ilan University , received a Bachelor of Laws and began working as a lawyer. Since 2003 he has been a Knesset MP for the Likud party . From 2009 to 2013 he was Minister of the Environment. From 2013 to 2014 he was Minister of Communication. Since May 2015 he has been Minister for Public Security and Minister for Strategic Affairs . He lives in Ashkelon , is married and has four children.
Controversy
After riots on the Temple Mount in September 2015, he requested the Israeli police to fire stone throwers on the Temple Mount. He also suggested that only judges who deliver harsh sentences against Palestinian stone throwers should be promoted.
