Dalia Itzik ( Hebrew דליה איציק; * October 20, 1952 in Jerusalem ) is an Israeli politician ( Kadima ).

Life

Itzik's family is from Iraq . Before becoming a member of the 12th Knesset in 1992  , she was Deputy Mayor of Jerusalem. For the Avoda Labor Party , she was Minister for Trade and Environment, and then for Communication. Itzik left the Avoda on November 28, 2005 and joined the Kadima around Ariel Sharon . She became the first woman President of the Israeli Parliament on May 4, 2006.

As a result of President Moshe Katzav's incapacity for office , Itzik temporarily took over his office on January 25, 2007. She fulfilled this task until the inauguration of Shimon Peres on July 15, 2007.
