Michael Dekel ( Hebrew מיכאל דקל, Born August 1, 1920 in Pinsk , Republic of Poland ; died September 20, 1994 in Israel ) was an Israeli politician .

Life

Dekel served in the Red Army from 1943 to 1944 during World War II and later in the Polish Army from 1944 to 1946 . In the post-war period he became head of the Betar in an Austrian DP camp and was one of the heads of the Austrian branch of the Zionist organization Irgun . Dekel immigrated to Israel in 1949. In 1950 he lived in Nordia ( Hebrew נוֹרְדִיָּה) A settlement founded by former members of the Zionist organization Irgun Tzwa'i Le'umi . He later became a member of the conservative Zionist Cherut party , and in 1966 he became a member of the party leadership and central committee of the Cherut.

In the 10th legislative period (Knesset), from October 10, 1983 to September 13, 1984, he was Deputy Minister of Agriculture in the 19th and 20th governments . In the 11th legislative period (Knesset), from December 3, 1985 to November 21, 1988 or in the 21st and 22nd governments, Dekel was Deputy Minister of Defense .
