Carl-Dieter Spranger
Carl-Dieter Spranger (born March 28, 1939 in Leipzig ) is a German politician ( CSU ).
From 1991 to 1993 he was Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and from 1993 to 1998 Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development .
education and profession
After graduating from high school in Ansbach in 1957 , Spranger studied law and economics , which he completed in 1962 with the first state examination in law; In 1966 he passed the second state examination in law. Until 1967 he was a research assistant at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg . In 1967 he entered the civil service as a court assessor. From 1968 to 1969 he worked as a public prosecutor . In 1969 he was appointed district judge . He has been admitted to the bar since 1977 . From 1972 to 1976 he was a city councilor in Ansbach.

Carl-Dieter Spranger is married and has three children.
Political party
He has been a member of the CSU since 1968. From 1969 to 1976 he was chairman of the CSU district association Ansbach- Stadt. In 1973 he was elected deputy chairman and finally in 1989 chairman of the CSU district association Middle Franconia . From 1977 he was a member of the CSU state executive.
MP
From 1972 to 2002 he was a member of the German Bundestag . From 1980 to 1982 he was chairman of the internal affairs / environment working group of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group . From 1999 to 2002 Spranger was Deputy Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee .
Carl-Dieter Spranger has always entered the Bundestag as a directly elected member of the Ansbach constituency . Most recently he achieved 50.4% of the first votes in the 1998 Bundestag election .

Public offices
On October 4, 1982 Spranger was appointed Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister of the Interior in the Federal Government led by Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl .
After the 1990 Bundestag election , he was appointed Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation on January 18, 1991 . Since January 22, 1993, the ministry he headed has been called the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development . After the 1998 Bundestag election , he left the government on October 26, 1998.
