Wekerle-telep (Hungarian for Wekerle-Siedlung ) is a district in the XIX century. District in the southeast of Budapest , between Kispest and Pesterzsébet .

The garden city of around 1000 houses was built between 1908 and 1924 for public employees of the city of Budapest and consists mostly of one-story houses with gardens in a network of wide right-angled and diagonal avenues . It is a very early example of an actually built garden city outside of Great Britain and is still mostly inhabited by medium-sized civil servants.

The center is a park around which the public buildings are laid out. The settlement was named after Sándor Wekerle , the first non-aristocratic Hungarian prime minister .
