Wellesley Clayton

Wellesley Clayton (born August 25, 1938 ) is a former Jamaican long jumper who was used because of his sprint strength in the 4-by-100-meter relay .

In 1962 he won silver at the Central America and Caribbean Games and bronze at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Perth .

At the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 1964, he was eliminated from qualification.

In 1966 he won the Central American and Caribbean Games. At the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Kingston , he won bronze in the long jump and silver in the Jamaican 4-by-110-yard relay.

A bronze medal at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg in 1967 was followed by another preliminary round at the Olympic Games in Mexico City .

He set his personal best of 7.92 m on April 3, 1965 in Albuquerque .
