World Mosque Council

The World Mosque Council or High Council for Mosques or International Supreme Council for Mosques ( Arabic المجلس الأعلى العالمي للمساجد, DMG al-maǧlis al-aʿlā al-ʿālamī li-l-masāǧid ; English World Supreme Council for Mosques ; WSCM) etc. is an independent legal personality within the Islamic World League ( English Muslim World League , Arabic رابطة العالم الإسلامي, DMG Rābiṭat al-ʿālam al-islāmī ), one of the most important Islamic non-governmental organizations . It was founded in Ramadan 1395 AH (September 1975) at the "Conference on the Revival of the Embassy of the Mosque" ( muʾtamar iḥyāʾ risālat al-masǧid ) in Mecca , the holiest city of Muslims , under the auspices of the World Islamic League . It consists of forty members who represent Muslim peoples and communities around the world. Membership is voluntary, with no salary or remuneration.

By his own account he's purpose: the reactivation of the mission (task) of the mosque as an important focal point of both the religious and the secular life of the Muslims and the restoration of the importance the mosque in the " early days " of Islam had . He also endeavors to protect mosques and Islamic foundations from abuse, as well as to preserve the holiness and purity of the mosque.

According to its own statements, the objectives of the council include: the formation of an Islamic public opinion on the various concerns of Muslims in the practice of the Holy Koran and the Sunnah ; combating ideological attacks and deviant thoughts; advocating freedom of proclamation in God's way ; the protection of mosques and mosque property against attack; the preservation of Islamic foundations; defending the rights of Muslim minorities; planning the role of the mosque in stimulating counseling, education, preaching and the provision of social services; the publication of the journal message of the mosque ( Message of the Mosque ), looking for ways to raise the cultural and technical efficiency of the imams and the Khatib ; the publication of Islamic books and brochures; Carry out extensive data collection on mosques around the world and publish the information in book form and in the form of regular bulletins ; the selection and dispatch of groups of well qualified ministers to the mosques of the world on missionary guidelines; the organization of local or regional refresher courses to enrich the culture of the Imams and the Chatibs and increase their level of efficiency; the formation of the Board of Directors to oversee the affairs of each mosque at both national and regional levels; studying ideas and behaviors that contradict the teachings of Islam ; Assistance in the reintegration and training of imams and chatibs for sending to the various Muslim areas to lead Muslims in prayer , preaching and teaching.
