World Migrants Day

The World Migration Day (also Worldday of migrants and refugee , World day of migrants and refugees ) is a church commemoration day for refugees and migrants . It was first introduced in 1914 by Pope Benedict XV. proclaimed with the decree Ethnografica studia .

The traditional appointment on the third Sunday in January was postponed to the second Sunday in September 2018 for pastoral reasons. Since 2019, World Migrants Day has been held on the last Sunday in September. The next date is September 27, 2020.
