The company is the global technology leader in the field of short- cycle press systems for decorative panels and laminate floors, as well as through-feed press systems for coating glued, panel-shaped carrier materials .

Company history

The company was founded in 1925 by Heinrich Wemhöner. At that time it was a handicraft business that quickly developed as a supplier for corresponding special machines and systems due to the flourishing furniture industry. The first series product, however, was a small sausage machine for the home slaughterhouse, which was widespread at the time .

Hand spindle veneer and frame gluing presses followed in the 1930s and the disc sander came onto the market as the first significant development.

Heinrich Wemhöner's sons joined the company in the 1950s.

In 1951 the eldest son, Heinrich Wemhöner jun., Specialized in the field of presses for the wood and wood processing industry . In 1964 the company exhibited the first fully interlinked machine line at the Hanover Fair . For the serial furniture industry, the linking of individual machines to form lines was of considerable importance.

In 1960, the short-cycle through-feed press with belt tray loading was registered as a patent by the inventor Heinrich Wemhöner.

In 1979, Heiner Wemhöner joined the company in the third generation. In 1987 he became a managing partner.

A subsidiary was founded in China in 2005 and a production facility was opened in Changzhou in 2007 . In 2010 the capacity at the plant was doubled, and in 2015 a second plant was built in Changzhou.

Before the company was named Wemhöner Surface Technologies GmbH & Co. KG, it operated under the name of Wemhöner GmbH & Co. KG Maschinenfabrik .

The company produces short-cycle press systems, 3D press systems, printing and painting systems, through-feed press systems and other special systems.

Locations

The company's headquarters are located in the south of the city of Herford in the Heidsiek industrial park in the old town of Feldmark on the B 239 , which leads directly to federal motorway 2 .

Another company, Wemhöner (Changzhou) Machinery Manufacturing , is located in Changzhou, China, about two hours' drive from Shanghai .

It was based at Herford's Hasenbrink, was initially called Wemhöner Anlagen GmbH and then Wemhöner Systems Technologies GmbH . In 2008 the company was sold and then converted into an AG. Shortly before the closure in 2010, the company was renamed Wemhöner Systems AG .
