Wendelinskapelle (Merenschwand)
The Wendelinskapelle is a Roman Catholic chapel in Hagnau, a hamlet in the municipality of Merenschwand in the canton of Aargau .
The chapel was founded by Rudolf Richwiler and his wife Verena Leuthard from the Untere Hagnau farm. The inauguration took place on June 3, 1603 by Johann Georg von Hallwyl , the Bishop of Constance . In 1723 the Weber family acquired the farm and servitude in the chapel; In 1766 she received permission from the City Council of Lucerne to rebuild the chapel. The work may have been carried out in the 1770s, as it was re-consecrated on August 17, 1780. A comprehensive renovation took place in 1960.
A choir, separated by wall tongues, adjoins the rectangular nave with the four arched windows . Above it rises a ridge turret with two bells (cast in 1600 and 1707), the younger of which comes from the parish church of St. Rupert in Oberrüti .
