Wendelinus Chapel (Koblenz)
The Wendelinus Chapel is a Catholic chapel in Koblenz . The chapel, the construction of which cannot be dated, is located in the Pfaffendorf district below the Cuno house and is a testament to popular piety . It bears the patronage of St. Wendelin .
history
The chapel was built on the slope above the village of Pfaffendorf at the meeting of old dirt roads in front of a rock spur . The exact time of construction is not known, but it is related to the popular piety of the residents of Pfaffendorf. The chapel first appeared in landscapes in the 19th century. It has been restored several times, most recently in 2007.
construction
The Wendelinus Chapel is a small, narrow chapel building with a gable roof . A short flight of stairs leads into the interior from the right. Here on the side facing the rock stands a modern figure of St. Wendelin.
Monument protection
The Wendelinus Chapel is a protected cultural monument according to the Monument Protection Act (DSchG) and entered in the list of monuments of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . It is located in Koblenz-Pfaffendorf on Hermannstrasse / corner of Ellingshohl .
The Wendelinus Chapel has been part of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002 .
