Special jet pipe

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Special nozzles are special fittings used by the fire brigade for the delivery of extinguishing agents (water or water / foam mixtures), which are used in addition to multi-purpose nozzles , hollow nozzles and foam nozzles . Like the multi-purpose nozzles, these are part of the water delivery. A distinction is made between different types of special jet pipes, which are usually not standardized.

Shower head pipes

Shower head pipes or monsoon spray pipes have a mushroom-shaped head at the end of the pipe, which is equipped with numerous nozzles. This makes it possible to generate a spray jet with a particularly high heat binding capacity. Today these nozzles are extremely rare to find.

Extinguishing lances

A fire lance is a special jet pipe that enables fires to be reached in hard-to-reach areas. Extinguishing lances are also used in haystack fires.

Reversible tubes

Reversible pipes for turntable ladders are pipe sections with two handles, a fixed coupling and a rotatable coupling. The supply hose (usually B-75) is attached to the fixed coupling and is usually released again directly via the rotatable coupling or via a multi-purpose jet pipe (usually B or C) connected to it. This enables fire fighting even from great heights from the basket of a turntable ladder. Another possibility is to connect a regular hose to the rotatable coupling and thus to be able to provide a water supply to an upper floor even without a building-side riser .

Monitors

Monitors (in Austria water cannons ) are portable or stationary large nozzles mounted on stands (industry), the front of the vehicle or the roof. Depending on the design, they can either be operated manually or by remote control. They are suitable for the delivery of fire-fighting foam as well as simple water . Most monitors achieve flow rates of 1,000 to 4,000 l / min with a throw of up to 60 meters. This makes them particularly important where fire fighting with a lot of water from great distances is necessary. Even larger monitors can be found on airfield fire engines , on trailers in refineries or tank farms, as well as fire boats that can deliver up to 30,000 l / min, throwing distances of well over 100 meters.

There is also a DIN-standardized trailer with a foam water cannon .

High pressure nozzles

High pressure nozzles are newer developments with an output pressure of up to 40 bar. Due to the high pressure, an extremely strong atomization and thus a high heat binding capacity is achieved. Because of the high restoring forces and if they are not designed as a hollow jet pipe, these pipes are designed with an arch in the manner of a support bend . Special high pressure hoses are also required.
