Wendl & Lung is a Viennese manufacturer of grand pianos and upright pianos founded in 1910 . The instruments have been manufactured by the Chinese partner factory Hailun Piano Co. Ltd. since 2003 . made in Ningbo . They have been offered under the traditional German brand Feurich since 2010 .

history

Wendl & Lung was founded in Vienna in 1910 through the merger of piano makers Johann Wendl and Stefan Lung. In 1926 the production number of 1000 pieces was exceeded and the company's location was relocated from Gegidigasse 6 to Mariahilfer Straße 101, where Wendl & Lung had their headquarters until 2004. A specialty of Wendl & Lung was the production of small instruments with a great sonority. The wing model X (147 cm) became a bestseller both in Europe and in the Middle East .

Stefan Lung's daughter, Stefanie Lung-Veletzky, was the first woman in Austria to become a piano builder after Nannette Streicher (19th century). Her son, Alexander Veletzky, took over the company in 1956 and managed it for 30 years. For this he received the “Golden Merit Sign” from the City of Vienna and the title of Komm.Rat. His son Peter Veletzky took over the family business in 1994 in the fourth generation and ran it as an individual until 1999.

In 2000 the company was merged with Ernest Bittner, composer and piano tuner, to become Wendl & Lung Klavierbau u. Vertriebs GmbH merged. Bittner's wife, a Chinese woman , was able to enter into a partnership with Ningbo Hailun Musical Instruments Co. Ltd. achieved and in 2003 piano production resumed. The partner piano factory in Ningbo is considered to be the most modern in China and, with its high-tech precision machinery, is a producer of all piano components and a supplier to many piano factories of well-known world brands. According to the manufacturer, the result was robust, long-lasting pianos suitable for all climates. The “Model 122 Universal” pianino received the “Diapason d'or” in Paris in 2007. In a short time it was therefore possible for the company that Wendl & Lung is represented in over 300 piano shops in Europe alone.

Wendl & Lung has been producing under the traditional German brand Feurich since 2010 . A year later, all models were presented for the first time at the Frankfurt Musikmesse and since 2012 the worldwide trademark rights to Feurich have belonged to the Vienna-based company FEURICH PIANOFORTE Wendl & Lung GmbH.

Models

According to the company's own information, the focus is on achieving the full, warm and long-lasting sound possible and perfecting the typical Viennese sound ideal. A balanced, sonorous sound with full bass and brilliant highs is the unmistakable trademark of all Wendl & Lung models.
