Wendland Lexicon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wendland lexicon is a lexicon about the Wendland that was published in two volumes from 2000 . The more than 1000-page work with numerous illustrations is also part of the publication series of the local history working group Lüchow-Dannenberg and was published by the Köhring publishing house in Lüchow by Wolfgang Jürries and Berndt Wachter , the archaeologist who died in 1998. The geographical local and regional lexicon for the Lüchow-Dannenberg district contains key words on history, culture, flora and fauna, the landscape and settlements, as well as economy, administration and politics. Biographies of deceased personalities in the region were included as well as a ten-page article on the “ Gorleben Protest ”. Longer articles deal, for example, with nature conservation , found rounds , the Gorleben salt dome or the subject of Slavs . It also includes descriptions of archaeological sites, castle and palace complexes and historical areas.
