Verkhovinians

The Verkhovinians (Verkhovinetses) are a Russian mountain people in the Carpathian Mountains . As an East Slav ethnic group, they are mostly considered part of the Ukrainian people today.

The Verkhovina , an area in the northeast of the Hungarian county of Máramaros on the border with Galicia , is a highland of the Carpathian Forest Mountains with forests and mineral springs. The 20,000 inhabitants are Ruthenians of the Greek Catholic denomination and live from the produce of their flocks.
