Werderstrasse 155

The residential building Werderstraße 155 in Heilbronn is a listed building, designed by the Heilbronn architects Jakob Saame , who also built the Villa Binder , and Christian Dietz. It was built by the piano maker Wilhelm Schöneck, who also had houses no. 152 and 154 built on Werderstrasse in 1905 and 1906.

location

Werderstrasse was the central axis of the historic workers' residential area at Heilbronner Südbahnhof , which was designed in the town plan from 1873 and implemented with the construction of the Bottwartalbahn around 1900. In the years 1977–1981, Werderstrasse was converted into a traffic-calmed zone as part of the “careful renovation of individual city quarters” .

description

Like the other two houses commissioned by Schöneck, the building at Werderstrasse 155 shows strongly planar facades and is thus a testament to the turning away from historicism at the beginning of the 20th century.

history

In 1950 the building was owned by the master butcher Eugen Bartenbach. Josef Droste also ran a dental laboratory on the ground floor. In addition, eight tenants are named. In 1961, in addition to Metzger Bartenbach, butcher Albert Beier also appears on the ground floor, Droste had meanwhile closed his laboratory and opened a commercial agency (e.g. for ISO plaster). In addition, four tenants are named.
