Jakob Saame (also: Jacob Saame , born September 16, 1866 in Eschwege ; † August 21, 1938 in Bad Cannstatt ) was a German architect.

Life

Jakob Saame was mainly active in Heilbronn , where he had lived since 1887. As an architect, he was first listed in the 1895 address book. Apparently he worked for some time with Ernst Walter and Karl Luckscheiter , for example in 1902 when he designed a house for the surgeon Gustav Mandry . Later he had his office at Friedensstrasse (meanwhile: Gymnasiumstrasse) 36. His son Otto also became an architect. After the death of his father, he took over the office on Friedensstrasse, which was completely destroyed in the Second World War . Jakob Saame's grandson was also called Otto. He passed the Abitur at Heilbronn's Karlsgymnasium in 1948 and later became a professor at the University of Mainz . He headed the Institute for General Studies .

buildings

Several buildings by Jakob Saame have been preserved; some are now listed .

  • In 1902, Saame designed a residential building in the Walter & Luckscheiter office at Gartenstrasse 48 in Heilbronn for the doctor Dr. Gustav Mandry.
  • The listed building at Friedhofstrasse 45 in Heilbronn dates from 1903. Saame designed the building in Baroque Art Nouveau style , which has been preserved including its handicraft interior furnishings, for the art and commercial gardener Robert Sauber.
  • The semi-detached house was also built in 1903 at Ludwig-Pfau-Strasse 25 and 27 in Heilbronn . The builders were Ernst and Hermann Able. Colored exposed brickwork with a relief-like facade decoration in the style of the German Renaissance as well as slightly protruding side elevations with curved gables decorate this listed house, whose associated stable and barn building has not been preserved.
  • The plans for a house for the director Julius Rauth at Pfühlstrasse 28 in Heilbronn date from 1905.
  • Together with Christian Dietz, Saame designed the residential buildings at Werderstrasse 152 , 154 and 155 in Heilbronn, which were built in 1905 and 1906. The buildings commissioned by the piano maker Wilhelm Schöneck were placed under monument protection as evidence of the breakaway from historicism.
  • Saame designed the home for foreman Gustav Rohrbach in Heilbronner Oststrasse 114 in 1906.
  • In 1907, Saame designed a new building to expand the Carl Berberich paper goods factory on the corner of Nordbergstrasse and Sicherheitserstrasse.
Villa Binder
  • In 1908 the villa was built for Gustav Binder at Böckinger Straße 104 in Neckargartach . The certificate of the homeland style is under monument protection.
  • The house at Oststrasse 2 in Heilbronn, which Saame designed for Otto Pfitzer, dates from the same year . As a testimony to the transition of the style movement at the turn of the century to the architecture of the late Empire, which was characterized by neo-baroque and neoclassicism, the house was placed under a preservation order.
  • Also in 1908, Saame designed the Villa Kleinbach for the reindeer Heinrich Kleinbach at Gutenbergstrasse 63 (corner of Dittmarstrasse) in Heilbronn , another example of a residential building in the local style.
  • In 1909 Otto Pfitzer had the house at Kirchbrunnenstrasse 9 in Heilbronn demolished and the new building for Saame planned.
  • An Art Nouveau house for Eugen Theobald in the street Im Breitenloch in Heilbronn was planned but not implemented . The plans are from 1909.
  • The Villa Neumayer in Heilbronn Cäcilienstraße 58 designed Saame for dentists W. Neumayer. The two-storey plastered building was built in 1909. As an example of the Baroque Art Nouveau style, the corner building, whose original property fence facing Wilhelmstrasse has been preserved, was placed under monument protection.
  • In 1910, businessman Otto Pfitzer had a house designed for him at Schillerstraße 55 in Heilbronn von Saame.
  • The plans for a representative residential building at Nordstrasse 11 in Heilbronn were not carried out. The builder would have been the master cooper Robert Vogt. The Heilbronn City Archives keep the plans.
  • Plans for the home of the building contractor Karl Wolz at Siebennussbaumstrasse 89, later Pfühlstrasse 55, from 1910 are kept in the Heilbronn City Archives. Saame decorated the plans with drawings of partly naked women.
  • In 1911 Saame planned a residential building for the widow Friederike Berret at Heilbronn Pfühlstrasse 19. It is unclear whether the house was built according to the plans that are kept in the Heilbronn city archive. After the Second World War, it was rebuilt in significantly different ways.
  • In 1912, Saame designed the factory buildings at Heilbronner Austraße 25 to 29 for the Johann Gottfried Goppel company, which were built in 1915.
Former house of the savings and consumer association
  • In 1913, the house of the savings and consumer association was built at Happelstrasse 29, which housed facilities for cooperative self-sufficiency. Among other things, the building, which is now used commercially, housed a bakery, a beverage factory and a winery. The front part of the building, the facades of which are lavishly decorated with pilasters made of colored glazed bricks, a baroque gable crown and plastered areas in contrasting plastered elements, is under monument protection, as is the rear part, which served as a warehouse and is provided with modern, geometrical decoration.
  • For the pensioner Wilhelm Auweter, Saame planned a villa in Heilbronn at Pfühlstrasse 29 in 1914.
  • Saame drew up plans for settlement houses in Eythstrasse and Gellertstrasse in Heilbronn in 1921. The planning application based on these plans was probably the first for the settlement. Apparently, a different development plan was then implemented.
  • In 1926 a house and a garage were built at Kernerstrasse 32 according to Saame's plans.
  • The parish hall on Biberacher Strasse in Neckargartach was built in 1927 according to Saame's plans.
  • In 1928 Saame planned a residential building for senior secretary or accountant August Koch in today's Dühringstrasse 12, at that time Gröberstrasse.
  • In 1929, Saame designed a sandstone wall in the historicizing style for the house at Rollwagstrasse 14, formerly Innere Rosenbergstrasse 14.
  • The planning application for a villa for the manufacturer Ernst Reichert at Pfühlstrasse 27 in Heilbronn was submitted in 1931.
