The twin house Ludwig-Pfau-Straße 25,27 in Heilbronn is a listed building, which was built in 1903 according to plans by Jakob Saame for Ernst and Hermann Able.

location

The building is located on the street named after the Heilbronn honorary citizen and poet Ludwig Pfau within a workers' residential area that was designed by the city master builder Reinhard Baumeister in 1873 . In the years 1977 to 1981 the urban planning and urban development restored the historic city quarter as part of the “careful renewal of individual city quarters”.

description

detail
detail

The semi-detached house with a facade in colored, high-contrast exposed brickwork is structured by two slightly protruding side projections, which have a tail gable as the upper end . Each side elevation is structured with an axis, which consists of a large arched window on the ground floor and twin windows on the first and second floors. The lintel of the arched and twin windows on the first floor shows curtain arches as an additional detail .

history

In 1950 half of the house no. 25 belonged to the wine grower Ludwig Able, and no. 27 to the wine grower Ludwig Gurrath. In 1961 half of the house No. 25 belonged to Walter Bickel from Fellbach, No. 27 to the packer Willi Büchele. On the first floor of No. 25 was Oskar Schatka's textile shop, and on the first floor of No. 27 Hedwig Baier had a laundry tailor's shop.

Art historical significance

The double house designed by the architect Jakob Saame is located in the historic Heilbronn workers' residential area , which is characterized by "reduced historicism ", whereby the double house with its relief-like facade is based on the German Renaissance .

With its abandoned stable and barn buildings for part-time farming in the courtyard, the building is an example of the transition from the rural surrounding area to the city and has therefore been placed under monument protection.

The listed houses Werderstrasse 152 , 154 and 155 , the house Happelstrasse 29 and the villas Binder and Neumayer in Heilbronn were also designed by the same architect Jakob Saame .
