Werneburgstrasse 11
The building at Werneburgstrasse 11 is a listed commercial building in Eisenach in Thuringia . Built in the early 1920s as the headquarters of the local health insurance fund, it is now used as an office and commercial building.
history
After the First World War, the Eisenach headquarters of the local health insurance fund planned to set up a new headquarters in Eisenacher Werneburgstrasse, after the previous headquarters in Charlottenstrasse in Eisenach's southern district had become too small. The opening took place in 1927, delayed by inflation and the economic crisis. In addition to the health insurance, the new building housed medical practices, an X-ray and light institute and a dental clinic. After the Second World War and the dissolution of the local health insurance funds in the area of the Soviet occupation zone and later the GDR, the building served as a state polyclinic until 1990 .
After 1990 the Eisenach land registry office was located in the building until it moved to Bad Salzungen in 2008 . In 2011, the building was sold to a dental technology company based in it, which is still based there today. Twenty other companies, offices and practices are located in the building as tenants.
architecture
The building was built according to the most modern standards in its construction time in the New Objectivity style , supplemented by numerous decorative elements. Many elements from the construction period, including the entrance portal, the foyer with stairs to the mezzanine floor, parts of the parquet floor, tiled columns and the stairwells have largely been preserved in their original state. Above the entrance portal there is a relief that shows horns of plenty - as a symbol for the benefits of the health insurance company - also the young medicinal Aesculapian and love in the form of a child.
