Werner Bartels (Manager)

Werner Bartels (born July 4, 1930 Essen ; † August 6, 2004 ) was a German industrial manager .

Life

Bartels studied metallurgy and foundry engineering in Aachen and received his doctorate as Dr. Ing. In the summer semester of 1952 he became a member of the Aachen fraternity of Teutonia , to which he remained connected until his death. After completing his studies, he worked at Thyssen Röhrenwerke from 1960. In 1970 he became CEO at Blohm + Voss , and then from 1980 at Thyssen-Industrie AG. He was also a member of the Executive Board of Thyssen AG from 1980 . From 1986 to 1988 Bartels returned to Blohm + Voss to reorganize the company against the background of the shipyard crisis , but kept his duties at Thyssen during that time. In 1991 he left management.

Bartels was married and had three children.

In 1997 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit, 1st class . In addition, Bartels worked for Uruguay as honorary consul for a long time.
