Werner Deich

Werner Arthur Deich (born January 17, 1933 in Braunschweig ) is a German historian .

Career

Werner Deich received his doctorate in 1970 at the Free University of Berlin with the thesis Das Goslarer Reichsvogteigeld. Staufer castle policy in Lower Saxony and on the Eichsfeld . Werner Deich worked as an agent for the Ministry for State Security (MfS) of the GDR since 1963 and was a member of the SED since 1965. In 1979 he moved to the GDR for fear of arrest. The doctorate B took place in July 1984 at the Karl Marx University Leipzig (KMU) with the thesis The regulation of the population in the Duchy of Braunschweig 1793-1874 . After that, Deich became a full professor for general history of modern times at the SME. There is no information on an academic career after the fall of the 1989/90 revolution . He is a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Rohrbacher Kreis - interdisciplinary scientific community of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation Saxony, which is closely related to the left . Deich mainly researches the economic and social history of the 19th century and the history of Lower Saxony.
