Werner Gercke

Werner Hans Gerhard Gercke (born October 29, 1885 in Cammin ; † 1954 ) was a German administrative officer and bank manager.

Life

Werner Gercke obtained his Abitur at the Marienstiftsgymnasium in Stettin. He then studied law at the universities of Jena, Greifswald and Munich. In 1906 he became a member of the Corps Thuringia Jena and the Corps Borussia Greifswald . After the legal traineeship and assistant examination he became an unskilled worker at the provincial administration in Pomerania. In the First World War he received the Iron Cross II and I Class and the Wound Badge as awards.

After the end of the war he became a Pomeranian regional councilor and was a co-founder of the Pomeranian city ​​council . Since the start of operations in 1921, he was director of the city council.

Gercke was a member of the management of the Prussian Central City Council, head of the liability insurance institute of the Pomeranian Agricultural Employers' Liability Insurance Association and a committee member of the Association of German Public Liability Insurance Institutions in Pomerania. He lived in Greifswald until his death.
