Werner Höcker

Werner Höcker (born May 30, 1924 in Rüstringen near Wilhelmshaven ; † September 9, 2003 ) was a German journalist and long-time director of the WDR studio in Bielefeld , the first regional studio of the WDR.

In 1946, having just returned from French captivity, Höcker worked as a freelance journalist. At the BBC in London he worked for the first time in radio and in 1947 became a correspondent for the North West German Broadcasting Corporation (NWDR). In 1955 he took over the then WDR radio office in Bielefeld . For over 30 years he reported on radio and television from the region and was considered the "voice and face of Ostwestfalen-Lippe " in the WDR program . He retired in May 1989.

Honors

Höcker was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on May 10, 1991 .
