Werner Hoeger
Werner Walter Karl Hoeger (also Werner Höger ; born December 15, 1953 in Mérida , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan tobogganist and professor emeritus of kinesiology at Boise State University .
Life
At the age of 16, Hoeger, whose mother is from Austria and father from Germany, moved to the United States. Nevertheless, between 1970 and 1975 he was Venezuelan all-round gymnastics champion six times in a row and also won 34 of 36 possible titles in individual competitions. However , he could not take part in the Summer Olympics because the Venezuelan gymnastics team did not qualify. After the 1998 Winter Olympics, Hoeger started tobogganing . He was trained by the Austrian Günther Lemmerer , who was himself a World Cup winner in the doubles. At the age of 48, he first took part in the Winter Olympics, the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City. He finished the competition in 40th. His son Chris also took part in these games and finished the luge competition in 31st.
Werner Hoeger also took part in luge at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin and finished in 32nd place.
