Werner Karotka

Werner Karotka (born October 31, 1927 in Hamburg ) is a German politician of the ( SPD ) and former member of the Hamburg parliament .

Life

Werner Karotka graduated from secondary school and had planned to become a tax officer. He began an apprenticeship for the higher service at the Reich Finance Administration . He could not finish this because he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and then into the military. He was taken prisoner by the Soviets and had to reschedule his career after returning to Hamburg.

From 1946 to 1949 he completed an apprenticeship as an office mechanic and then worked as a journeyman. In 1953 he moved to the city cleaning department of the Hamburg building authorities, initially as a wage earner. In 1958 he was promoted to administration. In 1962 he completed a course for general administrative service and was accepted into the civil service. In 1972, finally, a career change to the higher administrative service without an examination . Most recently he worked as a government official in the district affairs office. Werner Karotka is divorced and has one child.

politics

Werner Karotka's political home is in the traditionally left-wing SPD district of Hamburg-Eimsbüttel . Among other things, he was elected as a district and state delegate and a member of the SPD district executive. In addition to functions in the party, he was also involved in the public services, transport and traffic union and in workers' welfare .

From 1978 to 1986 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament. He worked mainly in the bipartisan committee on the rights of foreigners and in the sports committee.
