Werner Koenig (born April 20, 1963 ; † November 12, 2000 in Verbier ) was a German film producer and CEO of Helkon Media AG .

Life

Werner Koenig began his career in 1983 as a freelancer for various German television and advertising productions. After three years he worked as a leading producer and in 1986 founded his first production company "Koenig - Rosenmüller" together with his partner Marcus O. Rosenmüller . This is not to be confused with the Haushamer Heimatfilm director Marcus H. Rosenmüller . "Koenig - Rosenmüller" produced, among other things, commercials and television specials and made over 100 music videos . In 1989 the company was renamed MME Me, Myself & Eye Entertainment .

In 1991 Werner Koenig founded Helkon Media GmbH together with his partner Martin Heldmann. On October 7, 1999, the company, in which he and his partner Martin Heldmann were major shareholders, went public.

Her first in-house production, the feature film 14 days for life , was awarded the German Film Prize , among other things . The film Nothing but Truth , which took up the subject of a fictitious court case against Josef Mengele , also received several national and international awards.

In his sporting career he was a member of the German national junior ski team and a member of the German national sailing team in the Olympic squad. In addition to his film career, Werner Koenig graduated as a lawyer from the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

In November 2000 he had a fatal accident while sightseeing in the mountains of Verbier . He got caught in an avalanche while skiing downhill . In 1993 he was caught in an avalanche while skiing , at that time he barely survived.
