Werner Reinert

Werner Reinert (* 1922 in Saarbrücken ; † 1987 there ) was a Saarland writer and a supporter of an independent Saarland .

Life

Werner Reinert was born in Saarbrücken in 1922. During the war he was a soldier in Russia and Italy. At Monte Cassino he was severely wounded. He was an opponent of the National Socialists and had contact with the resistance. After the war he studied German and philosophy in Freiburg, where he also received his doctorate. 1950–1953 he was a consultant at the Ministry of Culture in Saarbrücken, then until 1956 press attaché in Paris. He fought for an independent Saarland with a European orientation (participation in the Saar Statute ), but this was rejected . After the Saarland was annexed to the Federal Republic of Germany, he lived in internal emigration, partly in southern France and Morocco. He died in Saarbrücken.
