Werner Richter (flautist)

Werner Richter (born February 28, 1924 in Jahnsbach ; † October 10, 2010 in Dießen am Ammersee ) was a German flautist and music teacher .

Born as the son of a liquor dealer, Werner Richter graduated from high school in Schmalkalden in 1942 and was then drafted into the Air Force (Wehrmacht) . He experienced the last years of the Second World War as a pilot and flight instructor. From 1948 to 1952 he studied at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts . After working as a solo flutist in Kiel and Darmstadt , he studied musicology and physics at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 1955 to 1960 . In addition to his work at the Darmstadt State Theater , he was a lecturer and, after being appointed professor in 1974, he worked at the Academy for Music and the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main . He ended his career as a flautist in 1979. He then devoted himself to his scientific treatises, sheet music editions and books.

Werner Richter's most important publication is the "Conscious Flute Technique" (The playing technique of the flute, derived and explained from exact fundamentals - attempt at a holistic representation. Considerations on pedagogy), Frankfurt / Main 1987. The publication offers a wealth of high-quality information that cannot be found anywhere else can be found. In his “Condition Training for the Flute Approach”, Frankfurt / Main 1992, he breaks down the complicated approach. One of the most popular of Richter's publications is the “Schule für die Querflöte”, Mainz 1980. Werner Richter had published around 60 editions.
