Werner von Kyburg or Wezelo (* around 980 ; † August 17, 1030 near Falkenstein Castle in the Black Forest ) was a count from the Kyburg family .

Werner was a son of Count Liutfried II of Winterthur (* around 950) and brother of Count Adalbert I of Winterthur , who in turn was the father of Werner I of Winterthur . (These two "Werner" are often confused with each other). Life

Werner von Kyburg was a friend of Duke Ernst II of Swabia . After he started an uprising against his stepfather, Emperor Konrad II , he sought refuge with Werner on the Kyburg . Emperor Konrad had the castle destroyed, and the two of them fled to Falkenstein Castle in the Berneck Valley near Schramberg. There they were slain in a hopeless fight against troops of the Bishop of Constance, Warmann von Constance .
