- May: Emperor Otto II and King Lothar of West Franconia meet on the border of their two empires and make peace. Lothar has to do without Lorraine .
- After Pope Benedict VII asked him for help against the Crescentier at the end of the previous year , the Roman-German Emperor Otto II undertook another expedition to Italy . In the Franconian town of Bruchsal , the final regulations for the areas north of the Alps are made in October and the first Italian delegations are received. The emperor then moved to Italy with his entourage from Chur and Chiavenna . For the first time on Italian soil, Otto is attested in Pavia on December 5th . The whole yard celebrates Christmas there.
