Veselin Stoyanov

Wesselin Stojanow , also Veselin Stojanov, Bulgarian Веселин Стоянов , (born April 20, 1902 in Shumen , † June 29, 1969 in Sofia ), was a Bulgarian composer .

Life

As the son of a music teacher, Stoyanov came into contact with music at an early age. After attending grammar school in his hometown, he studied at the Sofia Music Academy until 1926 . Then he moved to the Vienna Music Academy . Here he was u. a. Instructed in composition by Franz Schmidt and Joseph Marx and piano by Viktor Ebenstein and C. de Cone. After a short period as a concert pianist, Stojanow taught form theory and composition at the Sofia Music Academy from 1937. 1943–1944 and 1956–1962 he was rector of this institution.
