Wessin is a district of Crivitz in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (Germany).
Geography and traffic
Wessin is on federal highway 392 . The federal motorway 14 (approx. 17 km) can be reached via the Schwerin-Ost junction. The place is about six kilometers east of Crivitz . The Mordkuhle forest is located in the south of the former municipal area . The highest points of the former community are an unnamed hill in the northwest at 73.3 m above sea level. history
The name is of Slavic origin and means something like "to turn" or "to turn around".
On July 1, 1950, the previously independent municipalities Badegow and Radepohl were incorporated.
On January 1, 2011, the municipality of Wessin with its districts Badegow, Radepohl and Wessin was incorporated into Crivitz. The community had an area of 17.07 km² and 438 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2009). Before the incorporation, the municipality was administered by the Crivitz office.
