West Coast Express

The West Coast Express is a local train in the Canadian province of British Columbia . Since 1995 it has linked Vancouver with the eastern suburbs of Port Moody , Coquitlam , Port Coquitlam , Pitt Meadows , Maple Ridge and Mission . At the Waterfront station , the terminus in downtown Vancouver, there are transfer options to all SkyTrain lines, the SeaBus ferry and numerous bus routes. It is operated by TransLink , the transportation company for the Metro Vancouver area .

Ten trains run every day from Monday to Friday, five trains from Mission to Vancouver during the morning rush hour and five trains in the opposite direction during the evening rush hour. The journey time is 75 minutes. Each train consists of a diesel engine of the type EMD F59PHI the General Motors Electro-Motive Division and four to nine bi-level coach - Doppelstockwagen by Bombardier , each with 144 seats. The locomotives and the double-deck cars are provided by VIA Rail , the route is owned by the Canadian Pacific Railway .
