The Adam-Josef-Cüppers-Vocational College ( AJC-BK for short ) in Ratingen is a state vocational college , named after the educator Adam Josef Cüppers .

The school type is vocational school or vocational college , as the name was changed in North Rhine-Westphalia in the 1990s . The teaching staff currently comprises 102 teachers who are currently Teaching 1780 students. The vocational college is mainly attended by schoolchildren who want to acquire further qualifications in addition to the qualifications obtained at general schools. In addition, the Adam-Josef-Cüppers-Berufskolleg is also the "classic" vocational school for various professions. The Adam-Josef-Cüppers Vocational College is centrally located in Ratingen and about 5 minutes from the market square, the center of Ratingen. The Ratinger Stadium, which is used for physical education, is also just a few minutes away. Not far from the school is the central local transport hub Ratingen-Mitte with connections to Düsseldorf , Mettmann and Heiligenhaus .

The school consists of three buildings and a sports hall. Buildings 1 and 2 are almost seamlessly connected by a foyer . The sports hall is to the east of Building 2. Building 3 is a bit away in the western part of the school premises. The vocational college recently rented another branch with a total of 10 classrooms in Ratingen-Lintorf on Duisburger Strasse. The branch office will soon also be equipped with IT rooms.

Refurbishment project 2003–2009

From 2003 to the end of 2009, all school buildings were extensively renovated using funds from the Mettmann district and the city of Ratingen. A replacement building was built on Building 1 especially for the renovation work. After the completion of the measures, the Adam-Josef-Cüppers-Berufskolleg will be one of the most modern schools in North Rhine-Westphalia.
