Adam Josef Cüppers

Adam Josef Cüppers (born June 14, 1850 in Doveren , Erkelenz district , † July 20, 1936 in Ratingen ) was a German educator and writer .

Life

Adam Josef Cüppers attended elementary school in his home town of Doveren. After he was appointed schoolmaster at the age of 16 , he completed a teacher training at the teachers' seminar in Kempen from 1869 to 1871 . From 1871 to 1874 he was a teacher at the municipal elementary school in Straelen . In 1872 he passed the secondary school teacher examination; from 1874 to 1876 he worked as a teacher at a middle school in Borbeck . From 1876 he lived in Ratingen; from 1878 until his retirement he was rector of the local Catholic city school. In addition, he headed Ratinger since 1892Further education school and was actively involved in the founding of the city ​​library and adult education center .

In addition to his educational and organizational work, Adam Josef Cüppers wrote numerous, mainly historical, novels , stories and dramas .

His son Josef (1879–1953) was a lawyer.
